So I left Sarah at the kitchen table, happily cutting up her brother's old math worksheet. I didn't think much about it, since she loves to cut paper and it tends to keep her busy for more than a few minutes.
I was almost done on the computer when Sarah yelled,
"Mom! I cut my hair!"
I jumped up, ran to the family room, and saw this:
Aaaack!
Believe it or not, this is the first "self barbering" episode we've had at our house. Don't know why we've beat the odds until now.
Sarah was quite pleased with herself, but quickly realized that mama was not as thrilled with her new skill. :)
Oddly enough, I can't really find the bald spots on her head that I was expecting! Crazy, right? With that much hair on the floor you'd think there'd be some issues... but not really. (Apparently she's a pro at "thinning" hair!)
Whew, I think we dodged a big-chunk-of-bangs-missing bullet this time.
Hopefully we won't have a repeat performance, or Sarah may end up wearing her tiger hat a lot more often. ;)
10 Kind Words:
Oh nooo! I'm really scared that this will come.
She told me this morning! She said, "Look I cut both sides!" ;)
You did dodge a bullet there. Katie cut her bangs TWICE, really short, because she wanted her hair to look like Barbie's (no bangs -- she wanted them OFF!) Oh boy .....
I think that you got off easy...hopefully it will be her only attempt at cutting her own hair! She's such a cutie!
Oh MY!! ;)
***giggling***
Looks like you have a little 'stylist' in the making!!
Khloe hasn't cut her own hair. Nope, not her's.
BUT....
When she had only been home a few months...
She cut MAMA's hair!!
That's right! I really should've done a post about it. I have a computer desk with a hutch that my PC sits on. And then running parallel behind it, I have a free standing executive desk.
Well, Khloe likes to sit on that desk directly behind me when I'm on the computer. She often plays with my hair and pretends to put bows in it, etc...
And this day was no different. It was something she did often, so I didn't think anything of it.
UNTIL....
I heard the SOUND: "chhh-chhhh"
(that would be the sound of scissors!)
It took a moment before it sunk into my head, that it is not a sound I typically heard when she was doing my hair. I paused in disbelief and then quickly whipped around to see a pair of scissors in her hands. It was clear she was quite proud of herself, too. But when I gasped and she seen the look on my face, she immediately knew she did something wrong and the crocodile tears began to fall.
I couldn't believe she really cut my hair. Two good chunks, too! But good thing I have layers. I could tell, but no one else really noticed, until the next time I visited my stylist, and she got a pretty good laugh out of the subject!!
Needless to say, Khloe knows that you do NOT cut hair...only paper. And everytime I get out my scissors to trim her hair, she reminds me, "only mama cut hair. Not So-ee (Khloe)" I quickly reitterate how correct she is. ONLY MAMA!!! Little stinker!
Kids DO the dardest things!!! Never a dull moment, that's for sure. And just when you think you might have one, they pull something out of the hat! LOL!!! :)
LOVED this post. I totally needed a good laugh!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...........
Phew, at least it wasn't the bangs!!
Pfew! It was her hair and not one of her brothers, right?! ;) She would still look cute either way!
Francini just did this too. But over more than one day and by the time she was done, had cut off her hair from all around her face. Evenly. Bangs and sides. Super short bangs we have, even over a month later! And her ponytail is still pretty thin, given a 1/3 of her hair is gone.
Oh My! First, I apologize for not checking in sooner! Keeping up with facebook and the blogs is proving to me more difficult than I thought it would be…
Secondly, just shoot me over an email when something funny like this happens! I can't believe I'm just now seeing it.
From the look of that hair on the floor I almost couldn’t scroll down to see the end result! Too funny that little stinker! It could have been worse. She could have gotten her bangs…
Not sure what it is with these sweet little girls being so scissor happy! I’ve been through this age before same as you with the 3boys and we’ve never ventured this route. Allie understood that I wasn’t all too impressed with her cutting skills when she decided to trim her hair up last year.
I so understand that uneasy feeling you must have had while searching to see where that hair used to belong! Lol… Allie hasn’t cut hers again since, but I did catch her giving one of her stuffed animals a trim not too long ago.
Hopefully Sarah’s hair will grow back soon, but honestly she is still one of the cutest little pumpkins pies ever! I have to giggle looking at her and wondering what she thought when she looked down and saw her own hair on the floor! She’s too funny Mama!
oh boy!
