Is it just me, or are family pictures a somewhat stressful event? Anyway, this year we did pretty well-- I have a friend who is a great photographer (thanks, Ferrill!) and off we went to get some pictures.
Needless to say, with five kids (and two of them are very squirmy), there were lots of out-takes. But in the end we did manage to get some good shots
This last one cracks me up because right before and right after this shot Sarah was whining and pouting. But this one is great!
Do all parents get nostalgic when they see their kids shiny, clean, and smiling?
Because these pictures make me feel like even with all of our struggles, mistakes, and bad days... well, it just gives me hope that maybe we are doing OK.
Parenting is a hard gig, and sometimes I think it is really hard for me to see the forest for the trees...but when the day is done, and I fall into bed-- exhausted-- I pray that we are remembering what's most important.
And then I get up in the morning and try a little harder to be a little better. :)
And because I'm feeling nostalgic...here's a trip down memory lane:
Three years ago, this was our first picture as a family of five kiddos. Sarah had been home for only a few weeks and both Sarah and Jason still had their sweet baby cheeks!! My, how they've all grown! {sigh!}

6 Kind Words:
LOve your kiddo photos...they turned out great. we always have a blooper set of family photos and it's always STRESSFUL...you know I tell them everytime it does not have to be stressful if they would just do what I want them to do in the first place. LOL!!!
Oh, these are WONDERFUL photos! And yes, family pictures are stressful for me, as well. I guess that's why I just snapped a couple of photos of our kids on the way to a play that we were going to see. Not amazing, but they were all smiling and it wasn't stressful at all! Hooray!
these are beautiful!!
These photos are Fantastic! How in the world do you do it?
I tried and tried this year and couldn't get the one I really wanted... These are Beautiful! The kids are really growing up. Isn't it amazing how just a year can change everybody? When I look at all of boys I really see the manly changes going on - especially in the faces of our older boys... Thankgoodness for the cutsy fun we can still have with our gals!
Have a wonderful Holiday!!!
Lora

That flashback photo about brought tears to my eyes!! Our little girls have grown so much :( I ALWAYS love to see them all "clean & shiny"!! I am famous for taking pictures of the family on Sunday mornings! The neighbors must think im a nut, but sometimes, its the only time I can get the kids dressed up :)
