Sarah's new trick

Sarah is full of surprises!

Maybe it's because we had only boys in our house for 14 years... or maybe this is something that most three year old girls can do??

I'm not sure, but either way... it's pretty impressive! ;) Especially since Sarah's rainboots weigh half as much as she does!

Sarah's oldest brother Justin is behind the camera... please excuse the random background noise. :)

Little Lego Girl

Sarah has dolls...

lots and lots of dolls...

Right now, Sarah's dolls are a little lonely... she occasionally gives one of them a ride in the stroller, but most of the time she prefers...

doing her "homework"... (masking tape is almost as much fun as bandaids)

putting puzzles together...

and building "towers" for Kai Lan.

Sarah loves her legos... I think she probably plays with them more than her brothers did at her age! At first this really surprised me, but she is an amazing and focused little architect.
We are happy that Little Miss has found some toys that hold her attention for more than a few minutes.
Maybe the dolls should join Sarah in her lego building projects!
For now, we will shop in the lego aisle...and check out the dolls, too! ;)

P.S. Sarah isn't very interested in dolls, but she loves stuffed animals. She has several that she sleeps with and a pink bunny that must be found at all costs at bedtime!!

That's my girl-- I also loved stuffed animals, but was not a real doll/barbie doll fan.

It runs in the family. :)

20 years!

This week we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.

20 years.

Wow.

Twenty years ago, we were babies, I tell you.. .BABIES!

Look at our engagement photo:

See, I told you so....

Here we are now:

Older, wiser, grayer, ... and still counting our blessings every day.

It's been a wild ride at times, but a great one! From the days of college term papers, pinching every penny, and a tiny one bedroom apartment (either too hot or too cold), it's been quite a journey...

First "real" jobs
first house and mortgage
first child
first time parents...
career changes
several moves along the way
second child arrives...
first mini van!
Four precious little boys fill up the van
So busy, often overwhelmed
Running here and there,
baseball, piano, school plays

And yet... I cannot ignore the sweet whisper in my heart, "You have a daughter."
I tell my husband... he knows.
We pray. We wait.
We struggle but know we are on the right path.
Then, we see her! There she is!

Beautiful.

So thankful for a husband who has been there with me, every step of the way.
Solid as a rock. Strong and true.
A man who puts God and family first.

Can't wait to see what the next 20 years will bring... it will be an adventure, for sure!

Happy anniversary, Dave!! I love you!

(note to self: make sure hubby reads this post!)

Mr. President?

IMG_2629

Recently Jason discovered an old suit coat (that belonged to Justin) and insisted on wearing it to church.  The first time he saw himself in the mirror, he said, “Mama!  I look like the president!!”

So here’s our handsome little president, posing with our beautiful first lady.  :)

I’m playing with Windows Live Writer (just downloaded it, you may already have it) to post this.  It is a ton faster than the old way I’ve been posting, and much easier to make the pictures bigger!  (Thanks to M3 (Salsa in China) for the tip!)

Busy birthday!

We celebrated Dad's (aka dear hubby) birthday yesterday...last night, after a soccer game (JV won again!) and two baseball practices. It was late when I snapped this picture... and the "babies" had already gone to bed. (Never fear, they had cake, too!)

I just noticed that it looks like we're dressed up for St. Patrick's Day! :)

"At 20 years of age the will reigns; at 30 the wit; at 40 the judgment." ~Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanac

Happy birthday to my wise "40 something" husband, from his witty wife who is clinging to 39 for a little while longer. heh! ;)
