We attended a Chinese New Year celebration this past weekend with other families with Chinese children. The party was a week early since next weekend is Valentine's Day.
I would not say that I am an especially outgoing person, at least initially. I tend to be a little reserved, especially in new situations, so the thought of going to a party where we might know only a handful of people is a bit daunting.
Sarah, on the other hand, is not the least bit shy. She strikes up conversations with everyone she meets, and all day she kept saying, "Let's go to Chinese New Year!"
So, off we went!
It was a lot of fun, and it was great to chat with other parents who have been there, done that. :)
9 Kind Words:
Looks like fun! Sarah is ADORABLE!
Blessings,
Sarah
Oh how my little lady friend seems to be growing up so soon and getting more beautiful every day. Your friend - - James
I'm so glad you could come! It's our biggest party of the year. Hopefully, we have a few more smaller get-togethers this year.
Love your blog!

She is so cute in her dress. I'm sure she LOVES to get dressed up in it. I want a big girl version of her tiger hat! :) Too Cute!
She does look adorable!!!!
Oh for neat!!! Looks like such a fun event for the whole family, but especially for Sarah! I sure hope that our Metro area offers some fun events like that. What a great time. Sarah looked absolutely adorable in her Chinese silks...and I love her little shoes, too!! Such a cute little lady! :)

That is just awesome!!! I LOVE her dress and shoes. I love that you guys keep her heritage on the surface for her.
Thank you so much for introducing yourself on my blog.
I've just spent a little while visiting yours as well and it seems we do have some things in common!
Your family is Beautiful and Sarah is just as precious as she can be.
I think I may have to visit the Scarlet thread here before too long. That little hat is just as cute as can be...
Allie is crazy about shoes and now just within the last couple of months hats too. She would love to have one like it I'm sure.
Thanks again for sharing!

Gwen, I am so sorry that I didn't make it around the room to meet you at the party. I got caught up at the crafting tables and didn't get much farther :)
I do remember seeing your family there and your beautiful Sarah. I hope that you will come to more of our events so I can meet you in person. This group is wonderful and the families have become some of my greatest friends.
Thanks also for the Scarlet Threads post. I am crazy about Chinese hats and have wanted a tiger hat (one of my kids from China is a tiger!). I immediately ordered one and it came on Sat. I love it!
Love
