Sand + Water = hours of entertainment!

One afternoon I dumped some sand into a sand table that had been empty for awhile. Sarah and Jason played in it happily for at least 45 minutes (that is a loooong time for these two!)
Then they discovered that adding water was even more fun...

and had a great time stirring up their lovely mess!

Journey of Hope kids

Our agency, AAC adoption, recently participated in a Journey of Hope program with an orphanage in Guangdong province. These children are all waiting for families. Please check out these sweet faces!

We had an excellent experience with AAC, from beginning to end.

This is
AAC's blog. On the blog, there is a link to waiting children (with info about each child) in the upper right hand corner.

School's out!

School's out, but it seems like we haven't slowed down a bit. Here's the annual "bragfest" of year end awards (this post is written especially for the grandparents and assorted relatives) :)

Justin received a 4.0 for all four terms in ninth grade. Way to go, Justin! And his dad gets an honorary "A" in Algebra 2... good thing Dad's a math whiz and a patient homework tutor. If I was the math tutor, we'd be sunk for sure!

Evan is also an excellent student, and received a 4.0 for all terms in seventh grade! Nice work, Evan! Evan is very conscientious, and the class he worried about most was sewing. All seventh graders in our district are required to take a class where they learn about different careers. This class includes a "mini" home ec class where the kids learn some basic child development/cooking/sewing skills.

Evan had some difficulty sewing his pillow case (the inability to sew must be inherited from his mother!) and even stayed after school one day to work on it! His teacher was very impressed and he completed the pillowcase!

Logan had a great year in second grade! He received the "Most Radical Reader" award from his sweet teacher. Logan loves to read and consistently read the most hours in his class.

Our little man Jason "graduated" from preschool. Here he is looking at a scrapbook of pictures that his teacher gave him.

And little Miss Sarah get the "best dressed" award. She coordinated and chose all pieces of this stunning spring outfit. When I saw her pull out the orange top, I thought... hmmm.... this should be interesting... but she did a good job of putting it all together! :)

Thirteen!

On top of all the craziness of the last week of school, we also celebrated Evan's birthday!

It's official, we now have two teenagers in the house!

Evan is a content and easy going young man. He is sensitive, kind, and a great helper. Evan loves all sports, especially basketball and badminton. He also enjoys learning new things and is an excellent student.

We are so proud of our smart and handsome thirteen year old!! Happy birthday, Evan! We love you!
